Lublin

City

Lublin is the largest city in Poland to the east of the Vistula River, situated on beautifully landscaped grounds of the northern edge of the Lublin Upland, by the river Bystrzyca. Lublin’s charm lies in its over 700-year history. To this day the city hides old walls and alleys under its proud history. Ancient, authentic buildings create a unique and magical atmosphere of the city, which was once a place where cultures and religions of many nations crossed. Lublin is a member of the Union of Polish Metropolises and a candidate for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2016. The city will also host the European Juggling Convention in 2010.

Transport

Three major roads run through Lublin, both national and international – road number 17 from Warsaw to Kiev, road number 19 from Białystok to Rzeszów and  road number 82 from Lublin to Włodawa. The city has direct rail links with the capital and most major cities in Poland (Krakow, Katowice, Wrocław, Łódz, Radom, Kielce, Poznań, Bydgoszcz, Szczecin, Gdańsk and others) as well as Berlin, Kiev and Odessa.
